Pre-segmentation of high resolution images thanks to the morphological pyramid - Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2003. IGARSS '03. Proceedings. 2003 IEEE International

چکیده
Very high spatial resolution images are now available (about 1m), and processes such as classification or segmentation are less efficient on this kind of images. This paper proposes a method for pre-processing images, which smoothes the heterogeneous areas but perserves the borders of main objects. This process is done by 1. a multi-resolution nonlinear decomposition with a morphological pyramid and 2. a recomposition step. An example is shown on a SPOT 5 image, with a 2.5m spatial resolution.

Polarization orientation estimation and applications: a review - Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2003. IGARSS '03. Proceedings. 2003 IEEE International
In this paper, we review estimation algorithms and applications of polarization orientation angle shifts induced by terrain slopes. We develop a unified analysis of estimation algorithms based on the circular polarization covariance matrix. The effect of radar frequency, scattering media, and polarimetric calibration will also be discussed. Applications to DEM generation, polarimetric SAR data ...
متن کاملOil-spills detection in SAR images by fractal dimension estimation - Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 1999. IGARSS '99 Proceedings. IEEE 1999 International
The paper describes a multi-resolution algorithm based on fractal geometry for texture analysis and detection of oil spills in SAR images. The multi-resolution approach reduces the problems of speckle and sea clutter and preserves subtle variations of oil slicks. The use of fractal dimension as a feature for classification improves the oil spill detection, since enhances texture discrimination....
متن کاملSegmentation Improvement of High Resolution Remote Sensing Images based on superpixels using Edge-based SLIC algorithm (E-SLIC)
The segmentation of high resolution remote sensing images is one of the most important analyses that play a significant role in the maximal and exact extraction of information. There are different types of segmentation methods among which using superpixels is one of the most important ones. Several methods have been proposed for extracting superpixels. Among the most successful ones, we can r...
متن کاملThe advantage of segmentation in SAR image compression - Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2002. IGARSS '02. 2002 IEEE International
SAR images are severely degraded by speckle, and filtering is therefore a common practice. Filtering is especially useful before compression, to avoid spending valuable resources to represent noise; unfortunately, it also degrades important image features, like region boundaries. To overcome this problem, one can resort to a segmentation-based compression scheme, which allows one to preserve re...
متن کاملScatterometer Resolution Enhancement - Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium Proceedings, 1998. IGARSS '98. 1998 IEEE International
AbsrractScatterometers can be effective for large scale monitoring of the Earth’s surface. However, their low resolution can limit the utility of the data. Thus, there is interest in resolution enhancement methods that can create high resolution imagery from scatterometer measurements. In this paper, a brief review of an iterative image reconstruction is presented, and the implications of this ...
